IDE 737 - Advanced Instructional Design

This capstone course provides hands-on experience in designing, developing, and refining a complete instructional unit. Emphasizing advanced instructional design techniques, the course guides students through the entire development process—from identifying performance problems and defining learning objectives to creating detailed storyboards, instructional materials, and assessments. Students apply strategies such as advanced organizers, developmental feedback, and reflective tools to enhance their instructional units. The course includes peer critiques, professional consultation, and a reflective journal to document design rationale and decision-making. It promotes the application of design theory in authentic contexts and strengthens the ability to create effective, learner-centered instruction.
